Dar Es Salaam Zoo is located 37 km from the Dar Es Salaam city centre. It is is designed to provide a unique opportunity for the general public especially those living in and around Dar Es Salaam city and neighboring towns, to get away from the boredom of everyday life activities in their congested areas to come and relax peacefully and spend their leisure time in a fresh and natural environment. Dar Es Salaam Zoo also provides an excellent opportunity for professionals who wish to study natural science through interacting directly with animals and plants both wild and domestic which are found in the Zoo. The Zoo is preserved with natural flora and fauna. There are also camels, horses and donkeys all living harmoniously together for their mutual peace. There are domestic fowls, local commercial breed. There are also turkeys, geese, ducks, guinea fowl and pigeons all being kept to serve the varying needs and interest of our visitors.
The Dar Es Salaam Zoo also has wildlife. This is a new innovation still in the making but already provides entertainment to the eyes and hearts of those who visit apart from watching and interacting with animals like zebra, eland ,crocodiles, snakes , tortoise etc.
