Every spring over 4 000 different floral species come into bloom in the rugged Namaqualand, a floral wonderland found nowhere else in the world.
6 Day 5 Night Tour: Departing from Cape Town to Cape Town
Day 1:
Departure 07:30 from Southern Sun Waterfront, Cape Town and travel up through the West Coast. We will stop at Mamre, Darling, Ysterfontein, West Coast National Park, Postberg Nature Reserve and Saldana Bay. Overnight in St Helena Bay (FB).
Day 2:
Departure 08:00 towards Dinosaur Park and Laaiplek. Then we travel via the coast to Lamberts Bay and Clanwillaim. We will visit the Ramskop Flower Reserve, Leather Shoe Factory and then we will travel back to Citrusdal for a wine tasting. Overnight in Citrusdal (FB).
Day 3:
Departure 08:30 we will visit Bird Island in Lambert’s Bay, a favorite haunt of penguins, cormorants, garnets and other bird species. We will also stop at the Gentleman’s Lodgings in Graafwater and the Rooibos Tea Board. Then we travel to Vredendal for a wine tasting. Overnight in Vredendal (FB).
Day 4:
Departure 07:00 we will visit the Succulent Nursery at Vanrynsdorp then travel northward on the N7 through the fields of wild flowers – the heart of the Namaqualand. Stop en route at the Skilpad Nature Reserve and the Kamieskroon Mountains. Overnight in Springbok (FB).
Day 5:
Departure 07:30 from Springbok and travel south on the Kliprand road to the Aloe Forest, Waterfall and the Niewoudtville Wild Flower Reserve. Overnight in Calvinia (FB).
Day 6:
Departure 09:30 for a visit to the Calvinia Museum. Then onto the Great Karoo with its unspoilt beauty. We will stop at Southerland and Matjiesfontien. One last look for wild flowers before heading for Cape Town on the N1. Drop off at Southern Sun Waterfront, Cape Town. Arrive back approximately 20:00 (B)
